ASSEROR DOMINATES, CROWNED FIRST EVER TOTAL WAR LEAGUE CHAMPION

August 21st, 2020

After four long weeks, it was inevitable.  Asseror’s destiny in sight.  Posting an undefeated regular season, Asseror shined among the other competitors.  No one came close to beating him, his skirmisher cavalry tactics new and daunting to the Total War League Fighters.  His 7-0 record cemented him as the first seed in the Grand Finals, joining him were Bubbles (5-2), Waffle (5-2), and ODGoon (4-3).  A first round match found the underdog ODGoon going against the Behemoth Asseror.  The Grand Finals are all best of three match series, in Game 1 the Boii of ODGoon were not quite up to the task, but it was the first glimpse of Asseror showing signs of mortality.  These doubts were quickly overcome.  His Tylis pick proved strong.  Finishing the game with 1,704 kills, the difference lied with his agile skirmisher cavalry, who killed nearly 375 units.  Opting for a different approach in Game 2, Asseror went with Arverni, who do not have skirmisher cavalry.  A risk, but a mighty won.  It paid off tremendously, nearly doubling his opponent’s kills and continuing his perfect record in Total War League.

The Finals featured Asseror and Waffle, who dispatched Emperor Bubbles with ease.  Riding high, Waffle wanted to continue his winning ways.  Waffle, a Rome heavy infantry player, knew his armies were strong enough to conquer the feared Asseror.  Asseror on the other hand recognized Waffle’s Roman ways and hoped to dash them.  The Romans were overpowering and menacing in the face of Asseror’s Galatia.  It would be the first time Asseror’s blood was spilt.  A loss, his first in 10 games, brought his overall record to 9-1.

Down in 1-0, Asseror’s back was against the wall.  He went with Tylis in Game 2 and stomped the poor Armenians.  An interesting pick for Waffle in Game 2 really cost him.  He did not come close in this one, it was a bloodbath.  It was also the first time we saw Waffle pick someone other than Rome in Total War League.  Game 3 proved no different, as Asseror went on to claim the first ever Total War League championship, crushing Waffle’s Kush pick with his brave Tylis warriors.  Waffle’s lack of Rome really cost him, it will be interesting to see if he can keep up his pace next season when Fighters can only play one faction a maximum of two times.  Waffle’s questionable strategies are of no fault to Asseror who played his game the whole way through.  A special congratulations to Asseror, the FIRST EVER Total War League Champion.

Asseror, now a two time champion of the Empire, hopes to continue his dominating ways in Season 2 of Total War League, which starts August 21st, 2020.  The prize pool is as high as ever.  A total of $470 will be up for grabs between both Total War League and Total War League 2.  Glory and honor to all!

TWL 2 CHAMPION CROWNED IN EPIC COMEBACK

August 14th, 2020

Whitecloud faced a monumental task in TWL 2 to reach the finals.  He beat the goliath and undefeated KingDavid.  After his crushing victory of King David, anything was possible.  His opponent, PeleusSonAchilles, had also upset a favorite, Leon.  With their semi-finals wins, both fighters spirits were high.  Both knew they could become a champion.

In the finals, Whitecloud went with his favorite faction, Macedon.  His pike and cavalry would have to do the bulk of the work.  Going against Peleus' Galatia was no easy task.  Peleus went with a strong sword build, who were extremely susceptible to cavalry charges.  Peleus started out strong, picking off one pike unit and tying up some of Whitecloud's cavalry, but a grave mistake proved costly.  Peleus' Cav General unit was caught off guard, unmanned and was swiftly slaughter by the Macedonians.  At this point, Peleus had a 75% + to the balance of power, but Whitecloud had the cavalry advantage.  Still with 2 shock cavalry remaining, Macedon began pummeling the rear of the Galatians with charge after charge.  Whittled down from a hefty contingent of sword units, Peleus was facing defeat when only minutes earlier it looked as if he sealed the deal.  Whitecloud's Companion Cavalry General decimated Peleus' remaining men.  They routed in fear and Macedon proved victorious!

Whitecloud, now champion, has TWL in his sights where he'll face the likes of the TWL champion Asseror and the might of Waffle.  His Companion Cavalry will surely be out for blood, can the TWL Fighters stop him?  The wait is short as TWL commences next Friday, August 21st.  Glory to Sir Whitecloud!

PRESS RELEASE: ODGOON CRUSHES ALL IN PATH, CLAIMS 1V1 GLADIATOR INVITATIONAL TITLE

June 8th, 2020

After a week's worth of battles, there was one clear victor.  ODGoon rose up amongst the other 15 competitors in the 1v1 Gladiator Invitational and solidified himself in history, going undefeated on his march towards the title.  A dominant showing in the group stage with wins over Woolie, Gibbo, and GameDog, Goon found himself with a quarterfinal match-up against a mighty opponent, Waffle.  Waffle positioned himself nicely with a Group B Runner Up position, but was no match against Goon.  "It was like rowing against the tide," said Waffle after his crushing defeat as Baktria.  ODGoon went with a smart and wise Galatia pick.  The Legionnaires ripped through the steel of the Thorax Warriors, and onward went Sir Goon.  "Overpower, push, and flank," Goon said of his strategy.  A dominant strategy and one that other will certainly try to mimic.  One who may want to is the Emperor who found himself in a semi-final match against the future champion ODGoon.  Bubbles overcame a strong player in Beck in the quarterfinals with a hidden arrow strategy, "The big flank" as the Emperor described it.  A weak faciton pick by Bubbles gave Goon and his Romans an upper hand in the Semifinal match.  The push by Goon was too much, as the Emperor crumbled and relinquished his tournament run.  When asked how it felt to beat the Emperor, Goon said, "It was like waking up on Christmas morning as a child, the delight was immense."  And the tears of the Emperor even more delightful for the rest of the Empire.  Securely in the finals, Goon was due to fight the fabled GameDog, who he had already defeated in the Group Stage.  Beating an opponent twice is never an easy task, but Goon was up for the challenge.  A Pontus pick by Sir GameDog ended up being his bane.  A favor for a heavy cavalry approach proved costly for the Dog of Game.  Goon's Galatians once against ore through the shields of his opponent.  There was no stopping ODGoon for GameDog.  The army, tactics, and patience of Goon proved too much for the young lad out of Australia.  Two runner-up showings for GameDog will surely frustrate the Fighter, but he is determined to come back stronger.  When asked about his defeat, GameDog felt "bad."  He could not be reached for further comment.  Goon, however, was jubilent.  "Just spectacular, amazing.  Something my ancestors would bask in; this moment is undeniably beautiful."  Goon said.  The champion's victory will unquestionably echo in the Halls of the Empire for years, even centuries to come.
